Porcelain Veneers

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the number of cosmetic problems your smile is facing, porcelain veneers can give you a true do-over. These custom-made restorations are designed to be extremely thin and lifelike in appearance, allowing them to fit right over your natural teeth and hide several dental flaws at once. Veneers are functional, lifelike, and even resistant to gradual staining!

Crown Lengthening

If too much of your teeth are hidden beneath an excess of gums, crown lengthening can help you achieve a much more attractive and symmetrical appearance. During the procedure, one of our doctors will precisely eliminate unnecessary sections of the soft tissue and create a gum line that’s more pleasant. Crown lengthening may also be necessary if a patient is in need of restorative work, such as the placement of a new crown or bridge.

Cosmetic Dentistry FAQ’s

Cosmetic dentistry is a fantastic investment that pays off in many ways, but we understand that it’s still a big decision. At Dolan Dental, we want you to have all the information you need to make the best choice for your needs, so we’ve answered several cosmetic dentistry FAQ’s below. But don’t hesitate to get in touch if there’s anything else you’re unsure about. We’re always happy to help!

Does Insurance Cover Cosmetic Dental Work?

Insurance is generally intended to cover procedures that improve or maintain your oral health. Since our goal as a cosmetic dentist in Wethersfield is enhancing the way your smile looks, it’s usually not covered by insurance. However, some procedures are necessary for good dental health but improve the appearance of your smile at the same time. For example, a cavity on a front tooth can be treated with a tooth-colored filling that not only repairs the cavity but makes the tooth look much better as well.

Also, keep in mind that, even if you’d like a procedure such as porcelain veneers that isn’t covered, we do offer CareCredit, a third-party financing option that allows you to make low or no-interest monthly payments.

What’s the Difference Between a Cosmetic Dentist and a General Dentist?

Both cosmetic and general dentists have received the same basic training in dental school, so general dentists can perform cosmetic procedures such as porcelain veneers or dental bonding. However, a cosmetic dentist will have pursued advanced training after dental school to perfect their techniques and, in many cases, they’ll also be certified in specialty cosmetic treatments such as Invisalign. To make sure you’re seeing a well-trained cosmetic dentist, read through their bio page and look at the services they offer.

How Long Does Whitening Last?

Whitening results can last up to three years, but that can vary quite a bit depending on your lifestyle choices and oral hygiene habits. Many people like to touch-up about once a year to keep their smile looking its best, which you can easily do by buying inexpensive refills of whitening gel and wearing your original custom-made trays for anywhere from several days to two weeks.

I Don’t Like How My Teeth Look. Can I Just Replace Them With Dentures or Implants?

While dentures and implants are good solutions for tooth loss, it’s not a good idea to extract healthy teeth unless it’s absolutely necessary. As a dentist in Wethersfield with your best interests at heart, we’re committed to help you save your teeth whenever possible because nothing will ever be as good as your own.

Having said that, we have many ways to improve the appearance of your existing smile! In some cases, a combination of cosmetic procedures is the best way to give you the results you’re after.

Will Cosmetic Dentistry Improve My Oral Health?

In some cases, yes. For example, if you’d like to close the gap from a missing tooth because you don’t like the way it looks, replacing the tooth will benefit your dental health in many ways. It will improve your ability to chew, prevent bite alignment issues, and also help prevent damage to your remaining teeth such as fractures or cavities.
